Kimberly Vargas Agnese

Kimberly Vargas Agnese has served as a youth pastor / special needs educator and literacy coach in Fresno’s inner city for over 30 years. Currently occupied as a Chicana poet, she advocates alongside those who are abandoned, abused, and oppressed. Kimberly lives at Meadow Arc, a young food forest, with her adult daughter and a beautiful orange dog that she thinks is a golden retriever. Kimberly's writing appears in Anacua Literary Arts Journal, Awakened Voices Magazine, SHIFT Magazine and The Purpled Nail, among others. Her full-length collection, Red String on a Saguaro Cactus was named a finalist for the 2022 Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize, awarded biannually by the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. But, most importantly, she is loved by Jesus. (And at the end of the day, that's all that really matters, isn't it?)
