Plague in the Pew

On a breezy Sunday morning stands at

The pulpit a handsome wolf welcoming

The thousands of donkeys glued comfortably

To their pews. They bring upon their heavy

Laden, sickness poverty injustice and all –

A sparkly row of white teeth sympathizes

Captivating the poor donkeys’ hearts.

A success mantra delivered with charisma makes

Them listen in awe. Self-fulfillment glib gently

Released tickling ears ‘til they bleat

Amen and praise him.

A sudden effect of

Frolicking on one cotton candy to another,

Overjoyed and blessed immensely.

The charming beast smiles and exclaims

God is smiling down on you. Right now.

Each week hungry Jacks and Jennys are glutted with

Feast of Self-esteem; Slowly, the injected

Lethal contagion – positivity

Leavens the whole lump as the wolf’s mouth

Gulps the bedazzled ones.
