The Road to Damascus

Blood on my hands,
fury in my heart,
I journeyed to Damascus,
leading a pack of wolves
on a relentless hunt.
On the road ahead,
I heard a voice from above
It belonged to a man
whom I loathed,
whose followers I persecuted.
I fell to the ground that I may rise.
I was blinded that I may see the light.
The light of the world.
He asked me to get up
and go into the city.
I listened to His voice
and followed Him for life.
My path to redemption.
Hate became love.
Huntsman became shepherd.
Saul became Paul.
A new name, a new heart,
and, above all, a new spirit.
