Three Kisses at Pentecost

                        Song of Solomon 4
For wildness like this I need snapdragons—
no, not fiery enough. Dragonwing begonias
begotten from your hand. And tulips.
(flaming parrot, perhaps?) Geraniums
to hang from my porch. You, sir, know how
to bubble my fountain. You uncork my perfumes
that do not come from a bottle. You have found
every wild beast on my heights. Wash me
with your I love yous. Gimme gladiolas,
if you’ve got them. I want all your love,
from A to zinnia. Take my arms,
full of carnations for you, my friend.
Make us wine—instantly old. Shall we
meet where the pfingstrose blooms,
whispers peony wind.
