Riding the vector of his intellect
Michelangelo entered Moses' mind,
envisioning Genesis'
celestial Author,
ascendant
in flowing robes
and commanding repose,
fashioning first man
in image
an echo,
all the wedding of
water, powder, and plaster.
He composed humanity
drawn from the well of nothingness,
issue of an infinite spirit.
Light, cast from the sky in pristine elegance,
kindled by grace,
reaching downward daily
as both reminder and remembrance,
spanning the gulf between
Heaven and Earth,
Creator and creature,
and in that touch
imparting unto a fractured world,
life unending.
